Plan to be an Affailite

Posted by Trix @ 2:26 PM, Monday Oct 29th, 2007

If you are thinking about getting into affiliate marketing I suggest you first pick an industry sector you are interested in. This way you should have knowledge about the product or service you wish to promote.

It is true that there are literally millions of products and services to promote online but for my mind when you start out you want a subject mater that you at least have knowledge about and even better if you are passionate about that topic.

The reality is you may not see any income for some time so if you are at least passionate about your product or service of choice it will keep you going while you build your base.

Once you have a base or income to work from you can then start looking into other sectors as you may want to outsource your content needs to experts in other fields.

I currently employ over 20 contract staff to write content on various topics that I have little or no knowledge about but if you view any of my sites you will see I am an expert in each field making the visitor feel comfortable in clicking on my tracking link or rather they are clicking on my recommendation.

Affiliate Program Business Models

Posted by Trix @ 3:32 AM, Monday Oct 15th, 2007

When looking for the affiliate program that will best suit your needs, you must understand that there are various styles of affiliate programs. The different Affiliate Business Models include Pay Per Sale, Pay Per Lead, Pay Per Click, Single Tier, Double Tier, and Multi Tier. Here is a short breakdown of each of these.

Commission Based Affiliate Programs will pay you a certain percentage per sale that you generate. These are generally good if you know the sales you will generate involve more than just one item. The more you sell, the more you make.

Flat-Feed Affiliate, or Cost Per Acquisition (CPA), Programs set a certain amount per sale or per lead. These are generally good for you if you know you will generate a lot of leads. Leads do not have to be actual sales, but instead, the visitor fills out their name and email address, or a multi-page survey.

Pay Per Click programs are good if you know that your website generates a lot of visitors and you know they will click the ads. Affiliate Programs like this will generally pay you an average of .15 to .25 per click.

Single-tier affiliate programs are the most straight forward type of tier for affiliate programs. For the most part, these programs will reward you for your sales, but will not pay you for “signing up other affiliates”. The harder you work, the better your results will be, no matter how much other affiliates are making.

Two-tier affiliate programs will pay their affiliates in two different ways. You are paid for your individual sales, and also, you are paid for additional affiliate signups. Normally these programs will pay you a flat fee for each extra affiliate that you get to sign up. They can also pay you commission on the amount of money the affiliate signed up under you makes (example: The affiliate program pays affiliates 25% per sale, and you make 5% of that 20% that the affiliate under you makes).

Multi-tier affiliate programs are generally related to pyramid schemes, but they work like this: You sign up Justin, Justin signs up Veronica, and Veronica Signs up Angela. Now, you will get a percentage of Justin’s, Veronica’s and Angela’s sales. If you know that the affiliates you sign up are productive, and they will also sign up other productive affiliates, this will be your best bet for an affiliate model. The only thing we would suggest with this type of affiliate program is to read the fine print and make sure you are not signing up for a pyramid scheme because you will not want to waste your time with those.

Casino, poker and bingo affiliate programs generally work on a CPA or commission basis – or a mixture of the two, called a hybrid. As an online bingo affiliate, you could expect up to 40% commission on every player you refer to an online bingo site. The same goes for casino and poker affiliate programs. If you were looking at a straight CPA deal, then you could expect up to £40 CPA while hybrid bingo and casino deals are around 25% commission and £20 CPA.

Benefits of Becoming an Affiliate

Today we bring you a guest post from our regular writer, Jonas Smith. Enjoy!

As most of you already know, affiliate programs are a key tool in gaining low-to-high monthly income, only by promoting other products through affiliate linking. I will discuss with you some of the main reasons why there are a lot of benefits in becoming an affiliate.

One of the main benefits of affiliate programs is that you can chose the products you want to promote, and you can make sure you have a good understanding of those products, and are passionate about them. Let’s say you are really into making sure your computer has no spyware or adware for instance. Now, there are a lot of companies out there that offer spyware and adware removal products, and are making a lot of money from their websites. Now, why wouldn’t you want a slice of that pie? Since you are already passionate about the product in mind (adware and spyware removal) you need to find some websites that offer affiliate programs, who will give you a custom URL to promote with, and every time a user clicks that link, and buys the product, you are paid a percentage of the cost. How easy does that sound? Promoting a product you already highly believe in, and have a great knowledge for.

Another benefit of becoming an affiliate is you do not have to sell any products of your own. What does this mean for you? This means, no packaging, no shipping, no dealing with clients 1 on 1. You are only linking the client to the site they are already looking for, and getting a % of the payment they make. Now, you might say, “why should I help these companies make all of this money?” One simple answer: WHY NOT? You do not have to do anything except promote these companies, either to friends, family and word of mouth in your local area, or online through message boards, chat rooms, and blogs. Also, on top of that, you get paid a good amount for it; usually around 40-75% depending on the affiliate program.

So you like the idea of becoming an affiliate, but still aren’t 100% over that ‘worry hill’? How about this for a final thought; when becoming an affiliate you can ‘work from home, and not have to answer to a loud, obnoxious boss’. I know we’ve all had those bosses that are always down your back, giving you extra work, and in most cases, have horrible breath :) With affiliate programs, you set your hours you want to work and promote your link, you answer to yourself and yourself only, and payments are on time, when you expect them, and there’s no limit to the amount you can make in one week, or one month or one year!

I hope this article has helped out those who were wondering what types of benefits affiliate programs have, and if they are worth your time.
